Amy Cooper Weaver

Amy Cooper Weaver passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, following a courageous two-year battle with cancer. She was a baptized child of God and a lifelong member of Socastee United Methodist Church. Amy was born on November 20, 1972, the second daughter of Ronald and Geneva Cooper. She attended Socastee area schools and graduated from Socastee High School in 1991. In 1995 Amy earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Coastal Carolina University. Following college Amy opted to work with her husband Ron in building their successful glass and waterproofing company, Glasstec. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, boating, and horseback riding. Nothing made her happier than time with the people she loved, so her home was often the gathering spot for friends and family. She meticulously tended to every detail of family events so they were always special and memorable for everyone. Her great nephews proclaimed that Aunt Amy put the “great” in “great aunt!” Because her loyalty, generosity, intelligence, creativity, wit, and passion for life made her so easy to love, Amy’s life was rich with friendships developed over her lifetime of 50 years. However, the absolute greatest joy of Amy’s life was her children, Riverlee and Landen, and her husband of nearly 30 years, Ron. She was a selfless, devoted mother and wife, and they were devoted to her. She also was a loving sister to Gail, sister-in-law to Johnny, and aunt to Katie. Her relationship to Travis was more than that of an aunt; since they were only five years apart in age, their special bond was more like that of brother and sister. Throughout her illness, Amy’s family and friends faithfully cared for her even during the toughest of times when pain and sickness were overwhelming. Her beloved husband was by her side through every step of the journey. True to her nature, she fought a good fight, but she was weary and the recent relapse was too much to bear. She spent her last days surrounded by her cherished family, but she was ready to rest in the arms of her Savior. We will miss her beaming smile, her quick wit, and her loving presence, but knowing she is free of pain and with our Lord brings us comfort. Amy was predeceased by her parents, Ronald and Geneva Cooper, and one infant brother, Ronnie Cooper. Survivors include her husband, Ron Weaver; daughter, Riverlee Weaver and son Landen Weaver, all of the home; a sister, Gail Collins (John); a niece, Katie Collins of Socastee; two nephews, Travis (Sarah) Collins of Socastee and David (Romi) Collins of New York; three great-nephews, Daniel, Jonah and Gabriel Collins all of Socastee; two great-nieces, Veronika and Viktoria Collins both of New York. She is also mourned by her brother-in-law, Troy Weaver of Socastee and mother-in-law, Peggy Weaver of North Carolina. A service to celebrate Amy’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 13, 2023, at Socastee United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery followed by a reception at The Hay Barn. Memorial contributions may be made to Socastee United Methodist Church, 5575 Dick Pond Rd.
