John Keith Squires

John “Keith” Squires, 68, of Myrtle Beach, SC; passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 8, 1954 in Albany, Georgia, son of Ina M. Squires and the late John Monroe Squires. Along with his father he is preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Pauline Squires. In addition to his mother of Murrells Inlet, SC, survivors include, his loving wife of forty years, Kathleen Rose O'Connell Squires of Myrtle Beach; three children, Jonathan Keith Squires of Myrtle Beach, Madison Nicole Squires of Myrtle Beach and Haleigh Rose Squires of Myrtle Beach; two grand-daughters, Chloe Heather Nicole Squires & Callie Lorraine Squires; brother, Chip Squires (Shelly) of Murrells Inlet; two sisters, Gwen Murray (Kevin) of Murrells Inlet, and Terri Lambert (Carnice) of Socastee, SC; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors. Keith was the owner and operator of multiple successful businesses. He first owned “Squires Superette” and then "Squires Corner Cafe" both on Hwy 15 in Myrtle Beach. He then he went on to own "Carpet King Flooring," as well as several prosperous rental properties in the Myrtle Beach area. Keith was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed farming. He loved to laugh, make others laugh and was known for his quick wit. He enjoyed golfing, sports (specifically baseball and the Atlanta Braves), dancing and music, especially Elvis! (Keith shared his birthday with Elvis!) Above all he loved his family with his whole heart. They were very important to him and he was their biggest supporter. He will forever be remembered for his caring demeanor, his sweet disposition, and the love he had for his family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, January 7, 2023 at South Strand Assembly of God, 3507 US-17 Business, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, 1000 SC-544 Conway, SC 29526. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm Friday, January 6, 2023 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Keith’s name to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, 269 Hanover Street Hanover, MA 02339.
