Loretta Lena (LaPierre) Clouse

Obituary for Loretta Clouse Murrells Inlet Loretta Lena Clouse age 90, died Friday, January 9, 2015 in Greenville, SC. Born in Indian Orchard, MA, she was a daughter of the late Ovila and Yvonne LaPierre. Loretta, affectionately known to her family as "Grannie", enjoyed a good book, a good glass of wine, and a good political debate. She graduated from the High School of Commerce, Springfield, MA in 1943 with a diploma in the bookkeeping curriculm. In 1967 she graduated from the Willard Secretarial School in Hartford, CT. Upon graduation, the faculty characterized Loretta with the following comments on her diploma; "Loretta has proven to be a highly intelligent and thorough student. Furthermore, wherever she goes her friendly and cooperative spirit will win success in the business field" Loretta went on to pursue a twenty year career as an executive secretary with the Travelers Insurance Company, Hartford, CT. The qualities that made Loretta a success in her professional life also made her loved and respected in her personal life. Loretta was a member of Chapter 17 Good Intent Order of Eastern Star Glastonbury, CT and a lifetime member of the Sphinx Shriners Ladies Club, Newington, CT. She was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, auntie and a friend. She touched many lives during her ninety years with her wisdom, kindness and stimulating conversations. Those who knew her are the better for it. Loretta was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles Richard Clouse; a brother, George LaPierre; an infant brother, Donald Harold LaPierre and a grandson, Matthew Ronald Tedesco. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Ann Tedesco and son-in-law, Ronald Tedesco of Murrells Inlet, SC; a granddaughter, Jennifer Louise Lawrimore and her husband Bryan Lawrimore; a great grandson, Chance Matthew Lawrimore of Mauldin, SC; five brothers, Ronald LaPierre of Longmeadow, MA, Richard LaPierre of Feeding Hills, MA, Donald LaPierre of Hollywood, FL, Raymond LaPierre of Longmeadow, MA and Leon LaPierre of Tampa, FL; two sisters, Phyllis McCarthy of Spring Hill, FL and Rachel Hermany of Willbraham, MA. Loretta also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Louise Pegg of Orangeburg, SC; twenty-four nieces and nephews and many friends. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, January 16, 2015 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at the Hillcrest Mausoleum.
