Marilyn "Cookie" Smith Todd

Obituary for Cookie Todd Myrtle Beach Marilyn (Cookie) Smith Todd (71) went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Friday, September 18, 2015. She was a loving and caring wife to Ronald D. (Ron) Todd for 54 years and a devoted and loving mother to her two Children, daughter, Ronda Gail Todd Deeb, (David); son, Richard D. Todd (Amanda); six grandchildren, Lindsey Clemons Sasser, Taylor Deeb, Jordan Deeb, Codie, Gavin and Zander Todd; two great granddaughters, Emma and Paisley Sasser; three step-grandchildren, Chris, Savannah and Amber; two sisters, Shirley (Archie) Countiss and Linda McHaffey and nieces and nephews. All of the children and grandchildren were constantly on her mind as she worried about their problems and prayed with them and for them. Cookie was a member of Socastee Baptist Church and attended services and Sunday school as long and as often as her health allowed. She loved the Lord with every part of her being and was responsible for bringing a number of people to the Lord's salvation including her husband. She forgave and loved others as her Savior forgave her. Cookie was born in Mullins, SC, the youngest daughter of Hubert L. Smith and Dorothy R. (Perritt) Smith on March 12, 1944. She moved to Myrtle Beach as a teenager and lived most of her life in Myrtle Beach. She was employed with various restaurants over the years while keeping her home and rearing her children. She co-owned Driftwood Realty with her husband and ran the office for 5 years. Ovarian Cancer took her life here on earth but she battled it with a courageous and trusting heart for six plus years and it never took her spirit. She is healed now and in the loving arms of Jesus. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Socastee Baptist Church. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
