Otto Louis Jansky Jr

Otto Louis Jansky, Jr., age 90, passed away on April 8, 2025, at Magnolia Bridge at Murrells Inlet with his family by his side. He was born on February 10, 1935, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Otto and Edna Jansky. Otto's life touched everyone who knew him. He was a humble, kind, and generous man with a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending his weekend afternoons watching football or golf with his family and having a big cigar on the porch. He found great joy and purpose in being a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Otto was a devout Catholic and over his lifetime taught Catholic Christian Doctrine (CCD), served as a lector and Eucharistic minister, and also was a parish council member. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He proudly served as a lieutenant in the US Navy. Professionally, Otto was an industrial engineer who earned his engineering degree from the University of Pittsburgh and later received a master’s degree in business from Carnegie Mellon University. With a strong entrepreneurial spirit, he became a business owner. For many years, he and his wife, Alice (Pud)— along with Tom and Pat Conley - their business partners and friends were owners and operators of the Mr. Sub shops in the Myrtle Beach, SC area. He was preceded in death by his first wife Alice (Pud) Jansky and his sister Doris Camesi. Otto is survived by his wife Elizabeth; children Sharon Jansky (Jenny), of Surfside Beach, Kathleen Fernandez (Jerry), Kristin Schaefer (David), Otto L. Jansky III (Ellie) all of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren Jerome Fernandez, Ashley Fernandez, Michelle Fernandez, Alyssa Head (Richie), Kathleen Schaefer, Savannah Jansky, Riley Jansky; great-grandchildren Lydia Head, Bryce Head; several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, April 23 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
