Patty Jo (Snipes) Gainey

Obituary for Patty Jo Gainey Patty Jo Snipes Gainey, of Conway SC, died March 2, 2016, at Anderson Oaks Assisted Living Center. Mrs. Gainey was born in Hartsville, SC on March 27, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Elbert J. Snipes and Irene Kelley Snipes. She was the wife of the late B.W. Gainey, Sr. They moved to Conway in 1950 and raised their family here. They operated retail businesses in Garden City SC. She retired in 1993, and enjoyed traveling in the U.S., as well as overseas. Patty Jo loved to crochet, and also enjoyed her doll and Depression glass collections. She took long walks and loved kick boxing! She was a wonderful cook and made the very best 16 layer chocolate cakes in the whole wide world. She is survived by her two daughters and one son; Joan G. Adams, and her husband, Dennis, Patricia Gainey, and Boyd W. Gainey, Jr., and his wife, Linda. She leaves five grandchildren; Charles and Parker Watts, William Gainey, and Meredith and Ben Adams. She is also survived by three great grandchildren; Whitley Gainey, Madison Baker, and Caiden Adams. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers; Jane S. Easterling, Sue S. Walters, Buzzie Snipes, and Fred Snipes all of Hartsville SC, and Ronnie Snipes of Debary FL. She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers; Shirley Snipes, Dell S. Easterling, Sylvia S. Shepard, Olive S. Newsome, Gerald Snipes, and Edward Jackson (Buck) Snipes. A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, (1000 Highway 544, Conway, SC 29526) on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 1:00pm, officiated by Rev. Rocky Taylor. The family will visit with friends at Boyd and Linda's home at 1201 Main St., Conway, after the service from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
