Donnie Raney

Donnie Raney departed this earthly life on August 15, 2019, at MUSC in Charleston, SC at the age of 72 to come immediately into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Donnie was born on May 29, 1947, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to Stella and Eugene Raney. He spent his entire career in the automotive business in a variety of capacities which brought him to live in numerous cities including North Little Rock, Jacksonville, and Hot Springs, Arkansas; Fredericksburg, Virginia; and ultimately to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Throughout this journey, he was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Hot Springs, AR; Spotswood Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, VA; First Baptist Church in Georgetown, SC; and Forestbrook Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. He served his Lord, his church, and people in a variety of ways, including Director of Bus Ministry, Evangelism Explosion trainer, deacon, mission team member to ministries from Nevada to Nicaragua, and a myriad of other areas. Donnie loved his family, his friends, his church, and his Lord. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and Nascar racing. He was an outgoing, loving man who seldom met a stranger and who made friends wherever he went. He genuinely loved people, even those he didn’t know, and he eagerly shared with anyone who would listen how they, like he, could have abundant joy in this life and a blessed eternity in heaven by accepting the free gift of eternal salvation afforded by Jesus Christ when he shed his own blood on the cross for the payment of our sin. “He fought the good fight; he finished the race; he kept the faith.” Survivors include his wife, Brenda Raney; four children: Melissa Denise Green of Myrtle Beach, SC; Arrell Jeffries Raney (Christy) of Charlotte NC; Gary Don Raney of Myrtle Beach, SC; Kenneth Wayne Raney (Betty) of Muldrow, OK.; and 7 grandchildren: Isabella Green, Annaliese Green, Arlo Raney, Jason Raney, Ethan Raney, Sarah Raney, and Tabitha Raney. He also leaves two brothers and two sisters: Bonnie Raney of Marshall, AR; Mike Raney (Terry) of Jacksonville, AR; Montie Raney of Dover, AR; and Regina Raney of Clarksville, AR; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, in-laws, and friends whom he loved dearly. Donnie was predeceased by two sisters: Donna Price and Rhonda Crittenden. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Forestbrook Baptist Church, Myrtle Beach, SC. Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Forestbrook Baptist Church, Myrtle Beach, SC, with Dr. Randal Helms officiating. Pallbearers will be Deacons of Forestbrook Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Pat High, Terry Hawley, Tommy Satterwhite, Ron Gordon, Ted Parker, Tommy Hall, Stuart Jones, Ron Novak. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Forestbrook Baptist Church Building Fund (2051 Forestbrook Rd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588) or to Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach (291 Ronald McNair Blvd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29575).
