Grace Delight Holifield

Grace Delight (Mielke) Holifield (age 93), died Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burgoyne of Conway, South Carolina. She was born November 1, 1928 in Ripon, Fond Du Lac County, Wisconsin – "birthplace of the Republican Party" – to parents Herbert William Mielke of Wisconsin and Louise (Bauer) Mielke, a German immigrant. As a teenager, she moved with her parents to Michigan and later settled in the Benton Harbor/St. Joseph and surrounding area where she met and then married on August 28, 1950 to John Benjamin Holifield. She was a devout Christian, an accomplished gardener and enjoyed the game of golf. She is predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Joyce Evelyn Franklin and Margaret Mielke. She is survived by her two daughters, Sheila Rae Burgoyne (Robert) of Conway, South Carolina and Angela Margaret Vallejo (Chris) of Austin, Texas, four grandchildren, Jason Robert Holifield Burgoyne, Julia Renee Holifield Billington, Matthew Christopher Holifield Vallejo and Joshua Mitchell Vallejo, one great grandson, Liam Adam Burgoyne, two dear nieces, Joyce Marie (Franklin) Busse and Martha Suzanne (Drake) Miller (Bruce), and her youngest sister, Faith Marie Crenshaw of Scottsdale, Arizona. She will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery on November 22, 2021 by Goldfinch Funeral Home of Conway, South Carolina.
