James "Jim" Vito Lordo Sr

James "Jim" Vito Lordo, Sr., age 84, of Surfside Beach, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Grand Strand Medical Center with family by his side. Jim was born July 21, 1937, in Staten Island, NY, a son of the late Vincent & Mary Lordo. Jim was employed with Gold Seal Riviera Ice Cream Company and retired after many years of service. He was also a butcher and enjoyed making sausage using his father’s sausage recipe. James was avid bowler and especially enjoyed bowling every Friday night with his Knights of Columbus group. Jim was an extreme Giants fan and a season ticket holder. He was known to be a generous and caring man to family and friends. He was a loving and caring husband and father. He instilled in his children to be hard working and independent. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Faith was very important to James. He served his church as a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus at St. Michael Catholic Church, where he was a parishioner, and had also served as a 4th degree Knight of Columbus Assembly 2107. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lordo; and a son-in-law, Joseph LaDuca. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made the American Heart Association at donatenow.heart.org or the Colon Cancer Coalition at coloncancercoalition.org James is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Antoinette Lordo; children, Lori Ann LaDuca of Staten Island, NY, James Lordo Jr., of Myrtle Beach, and Donna Colon (Felix David), of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, James Lordo (Jessie) of Clayton, NC, Anthony LaDuca of Staten Island, NY, Vincent Lordo, of Myrtle Beach, Nicole LaDuca of Staten Island, NY, Evelyn Marie Colon of Myrtle Beach; great-grandchildren, Lawson Thomas Lordo and Michaela Lordo; sister, Joan Orender (Patrick) of Port St. Lucie, FL; sister -in-law Linda Lordo; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him greatly. Funeral Mass will be held, 10:00 AM on Thursday September 16, 2021 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Ave, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 with entombment to follow at Hillcrest Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM, Wednesday September 15, 2021 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
