February 11, 1933 - October 6, 2021
Our precious Angel on Earth, Marilyn Anne Plotzke (Press), 88, of Murrells Inlet, SC, formally of New City, NY and Chicago,Il with a few other stops along the way, made her way home to the arms of God and many loved ones on October 6, 2021. Marilyn, “Ma” “Mrs. P” was born to Margaret and Louis “Jack” Press on February 11, 1933 in Chicago, Il. She married her high school sweetheart Carl Anthony Plotzke, Sr on June 26, 1954 at Saint Andrews Church, Chicago, Il. Her family was her greatest pride. Marilyn and Carl have four children; Carleen Hobbs (Kevin), Kim Morrison Butt (Jim), Carl Plotzke (Kelly) and Mary Beth Plotzke Stuhlweissenburg (Claus). Blessed to call her Grams or Grandma are; Sean Hobbs (Jacquelynn), Kaitlyn Hobbs, Erin Hobbs, Victoria Morrison, Christopher Morrison, Malissa Morrison Connolly (Steve), Tabatha Elliott (Dalton), Calista Holmes and Kaeli Anne McGowan. And her “Greats”; Sean” Kieran” Hobbs, Liam Hobbs, Maggie Connolly, Elle Connolly and Alaina Hunt. Those who blessed her with the title Auntie include; Dick Press ( Peggy), Jim Press (Cindy), Janet O’Donnell (Patrick), Michael Press (Becky), Lauren Press and all their children She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Louis R “Dick” Press, beloved son in law Ralph “ Moe” Morrison, who we know will show her how to send us signs, and many other friends and family. Marilyn spread her love with open arms, including all the fur and feathered friends we were told we couldn’t have. A glimpse of that was captured when you walked in our always open back door and entered into a bright yellow mudroom with hand prints covering the walls of all who were welcomed in our home. As our friends and family are sharing their condolences a common memory is her incredible cooking, her happy smile, her sense of humor, the incredible parties and the forever extra room at our dinner table. That love extended outside our home to the various folks whose lives she touched volunteering. This includes her patients she drove to their cancer treatments for the American Cancer Society; the residents of Venture East, the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and Meals on Wheels, whom she always enjoyed spending extra time with and adding some extra treats to their delivery. Carleen, Kim , Carl and Mary Beth ask that you help us honor her by adopting Ma’s spirit in your everyday. Let the Prayer of St. Francis guide your days: Pay it forward, open your heart to a stranger, volunteer, adopt a dog or two, buy the supermarket flowers for yourself or someone else, set an extra setting or two at your table, put a tissue in your pocket, keep $5 bills on hand to give away on a whim, learn how to fold your sheets, play Scrabble, do a crossword puzzle, wear bright yellow proudly, send a thank you card, don’t take life too seriously, laugh often, hug more and make sure those you love know it.
