Carol Halpin

Longs, SC… Carol Anne Halpin, age 66, peacefully joined her heavenly father on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones in her final days. Carol was born to William and Rose Sherbeck in Syracuse, NY where she attended Hudson Valley College, Onondaga College, and Notre Dame College. After receiving a robust education, she began her career as a medical secretary with the V.A. in Syracuse, NY. After marrying her husband of 41 years, Tom Halpin, she moved to Ohio where she became a doting and loving mother, serving as Vice President of the Parent Teachers Organization of Notre Dame Cathedral Latin. Carol remained passionate with children and went on to serve as a preschool and daycare teacher until her well-earned retirement. Carol enjoyed numerous family vacations to the Myrtle Beach area, particularly Huntington Beach and Brookgreen Gardens. She remained dedicated to her children by attending sporting events, and despite geographical limitations, still dedicated time for family visits. She eventually embraced the role of a loving Grandmother until her final days. Carol's family included her late sister, Mary Sherbeck of Syracuse, NY and Michael Sherbeck of Fremont, NY in addition to her late parents, William and Rose Sherbeck. She will be remembered by her husband of 41 years, Thomas Halpin of Longs, SC; one son, Dr. Stephen Halpin (Rachel Halpin) of Wyoming, MI; one daughter, Dr. Laura Halpin (Dr. Brian Gulko) of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Her four grandchildren, Natalie Halpin, Martin Gulko, Seth Halpin, and Iris Gulko will remember her fondly. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Carolina Forest Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Carolina Forest Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Hillcrest Mausoleum.
