Doris Lorraine Wolford

Mrs. Doris Lorraine Fink Wolford, 95, beloved wife of Robert Thomas Wolford, passed away at her home on Friday, December 15, 2023. Born April 1, 1928 in Allentown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Warren Fink and the late Maude Keiper Fink. She graduated from Allentown High School and Allentown School of Nursing, then went on to work as an R.N. for Allentown Hospital for more than thirty years. Upon retirement, Doris and Robert moved to Conway to enjoy their golden years and the golden sunshine of the South Carolina coast. She was very active in the community, serving as a volunteer in Maternity at Conway Medical Center and forming the Cuddle Club along with Beth Edwards. As long as her health permitted, Doris was an active member of Socastee United Methodist Church, helping to organize blood drives for which she received many awards from the American Red Cross. She also served on the hostess/bereavement committee and the Gracie Heart card ministry. She was a skilled bridge player and bridge instructor, and enjoyed cross stitch, sewing, and reading. She loved her family deeply and spent her entire life caring for them and for countless others she met during her walk on earth. Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 74 years, R. T. Wolford; their children, Barbara W. Vassar and Robert Thomas Wolford, Jr.; her granddaughter, Carly Minarovic; her great-grandchildren, Anthony Minarovic, Michael Minarovic, and Brielle Minarovic; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Hillcrest Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, officiated by Rev. Meredith Dark. The Nurses Honor Guard of SC will present the Nightingale Tribute. Entombment will immediately follow. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
