George W Mulligan

George W. Mulligan, age 87, son of the late Timothy Mulligan and Mary Fitzpatrick Mulligan, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Conway Medical Center surrounded by his family and much love. George proudly served our country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a DEVOTED New York Rangers fan, so much in fact that he and Theresa’s first date was at a Rangers game. He was also a Mets fan. He retired from the New York City Police Department after 19 years. He worked with various security companies in New York as well as Myrtle Beach. George was devoted to the church where he was a Lector at Mary's Nativity Catholic Church in New York and St. Andrews Catholic Church in Myrtle Beach. George was the type of man that looked out for everyone and he was very involved with the residents and activities at Brookdale where he made many friends. George loved his family especially his grand and great grand children dearly. George is now reunited with the love of his life Theresa “Babe”. Survivors include his children; Gerry (Betsy) Mulligan of Myrtle Beach, George W. Mulligan, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, Maryann ( Jack) Hallisey of Myrtle Beach, Theresa (Paul) Pesaresi of Hoschton, GA. And Michael (Patty) Mulligan of Putnam, NY; grandchildren, Daniel Mulligan, Christopher (Tiffany) Mulligan, Sean Mulligan, David Mulligan, Rachel Pesaresi and Matthew Pesaresi; great grandchildren, Patrick Mulligan, Rebecca Mulligan and Andrew Mulligan; sisters Lorraine "Sissy" Lowery, Eleanor "Ellie" Mulligan and Kathleen Mulligan all of New York, NY; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog "Boots". A funeral mass will be celebrated by Reverend Timothy Akanson at St. James Catholic Church on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 1:00 PM. A burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Laurie Cohen, Robin Bunting and all of the staff members at Brookdale Assisted Living, for making George feel at home. The family has requested that no flowers be sent and donations be made in George’s name to the Horry County Humane Society at 1923 Industrial Park Drive, Conway, SC 29526.
