Kay Barnett Roberts

Kay B. Roberts, 84, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. She was born August 23, 1939, in New Milton, West Virginia, to the late Carl and Hilda Cox Barnett. Along with her parents, Kay is reunited in passing with her beloved husband, Mr. Charles Roberts; her brother, Bud Barnett; her sister, Ann Summers, as well as her stepmother, Mae Proudfoot. Kay had a zest for life and an outgoing personality. She married her childhood sweetheart, Charles, in 1956. Upon completion of her senior year of high school in 1957, she moved to New Mexico as a proud Air Force wife. From there, Kay followed her husband’s assignments across the country where she earned her cosmetology license in 1965. She owned Heads Up beauty salon for 15 years until retirement. In her free time, Kay had a servant’s heart and found peace with the Lord’s word. She was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher and volunteer with the Red Cross. She also had an affinity for sewing, reading, traveling with friends and family, shag dancing, jewelry making, fashion, cooking, baking, horseback riding, playing phase 10 and dominoes. Above all else, Kay loved her family and dogs wholeheartedly. She will be deeply missed for her bright smile, great sense of humor and the love she had for her family. Kay will forever be remembered as an amazing wife, mother, mother in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and humanitarian to all. Left to cherish Kay’s memory are her son, Charles Lee Roberts (Debbie); grandchildren, Charlotte Roberts and Tyler Roberts (Hilary); great-grandchildren, Brayden Roberts, Levi Roberts, Tate Roberts, and great-granddog Boone Roberts; as well as many supportive friends. The family will gather to greet friends in the Celebration of Kay’s life on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Burrough’s Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
