Luretha Holmes Montgomery, age 85, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Luretha Montgomery was born to Mildred Gurley "Plum" Holmes(deceased) and James "Bank" Franklin Holmes(deceased). She was born on February 24, 1940 in Florence, SC. Luretha Montgomery at a young age married Willie Benjie Williams, into this union, 2 children were born. Those children are Willie Benjie WIlliams(Judy WIlliams) who resides in Waldorf, MD, and Marvin Guy Williams(deceased) of Chicago, IL. Later in life, Luretha met Harry Montgomery in New York City, NY and were married. Into this union 3 children were born. Stanley Allen Montgomery(Chicago, IL), Wayne Kendall Montgomery-deceased(Sonya Montgomery) of Calumet CIty, IL, and Stephanie Aliceia Sanders(Calvin Sanders) of Loris, SC. Luretha accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church in Florence, SC. After she became a wife and mother, she continued her spiritual journey and stayed prayerful. She was a one of a kind mother, wife, and overall person who many looked up to. She served as a Food Service Manager for 36 years upon retiring in 2006 from the Chicago Board of Education. Luretha Montgomery is the oldest of 14 children and has always been known as "Sister"! She is survived by 3 living children...Willie, Stanley and Stephanie. Her siblings are: Franklin Holmes, Joan Jenrette, Carrie M. Holmes, Billie F. Johnson, Gary Holmes, Ted(Gloria) Holmes, Sarah Holmes, Danny Holmes, Melissa Holmes, Doris Ratcliff(deceased), Lubertha Holmes(deceased), Mildren A. Holmes(deceased), and James Bunch Holmes-deceased(Mary-Alice). She had 1 sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Patton; a very good friend Patricia Haywood both of Chicago, IL and a special son-in-law, Calvin E. Sanders of Loris, SC. Luretha leaves to cherish a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends! Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday from Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Elder Charles Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Mausoleum.
