Obituary for Scott Hamilton Carolina Shores, NC...Scott Cameron Hamilton, 56, of Cobblers Circle, died Monday, December 9, 2013 at the Medical University of SC. Scott was born in Mineola, NY, a son of the late John C. and Nancy J. Hamilton. He attended Mattituck High School where he met his best friend and future wife Beth, whom he married in 1976. Collectively, Scott and Beth were together nearly 40 years. They had two sons Chris and Steve. Scott loved warm days at the beach and had many triumphs deep sea fishing and on the golf course. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with family and friends. Scott dedicated 36 years of service to the Cornell University Police Department serving as a patrol officer and an investigator with the Major Crimes Unit. He left the department in 2012 at the rank of Senior Investigator. Scott was honored and privileged to work with agencies including the US Marshalls Service, Scotland Yard, FBI, US Secret Service, DEA, Department of State, Justice Department, Israeli Secret Service, as well as several local and state law enforcement agencies throughout New York. Scott had also been the Tompkins County representative for the New York State Counter Terrorism Committee Zone 6. He also proudly served as a patrol officer with the Dryden Police Department in New York for over 11 years. Upon moving to North Carolina, he became a proud member of the Coastal Carolina Shields. Despite a bustling career, above all, Scott's first love was always his family; his devotion to his wife was unmatched. He took great pride in his profession and was honored by the family's legacy in public safety. Without exception Scott could not be more pleased with his two son's careers in emergency service, the men that they have become, and the fathers that they are. Honest and sincere, he was a loyal friend and a man of great integrity. He will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Beth Heaney Hamilton; two sons, Christopher Cameron Hamilton (Qi Zhang) and their son, Jack Cameron Hamilton and Steven Cameron Hamilton (Jenny Riebe) and their daughter, Gracyn Elizabeth Hamilton and a God Child, Matthew Scott Poletti; sister, Dana Hamilton Willis (Jeff); brother, Brett Cameron Hamilton (Alicia) and their children, Katie, Maya and Ross Cameron Hamilton. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Robert Harper officiating with a burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
